Served in Civil War
Albert would quit school and leave home in 1862 to join the 13th Texas Regiment in Arkansas, on their way to battles of the War Between the States. He would not live through the winter in Arkansas and died in Feb 1863 in a Little Rock hospital. His twin brother Alfred, "crazed with grief ... resolved to go to that seeming far off land Virginia to fight the battle of my country." His memoirs, written and first published in the Jasper (Co., Texas) News Boy in 1911 as "Recollections of the Civil War" give a compelling account of his travels and travails, including a description of events at Gettysburg.
The twins' older brother, Thomas Randolph Sims, also fought in the War and was held prisoner before being released in a prisoner exchange. The two brother's paths would later cross, as is recounted in Alfred's "Recollections."
Bish and Agnes were twins. Bish was sheriff of Tyler Co.
Dora married Jasper Watts; her sister, Tabitha, married Jasper's brother, Hiram M. Watts, creating "double cousins." It is believed that Annie Laurie and Lela married Dean brothers creating a second set of "double cousins."
