John is the first in the lineage to move west, for reasons not now known. He married Appie McGough, a widow with a daughter, and they lived near Woodville. Of their children, Albert and Alfred, and Appless and Aandrew, were twins. John died shortly after the birth of the second set of twins. He is buried in an unmarked grave, long lost. Appie remairred a third time, to James Russell, from Georgia, a man three years younger than she. They had one child, James Russell Jr. Appie is buried in a small burial site outside Woodville (exact location unkown at this time). Her gravestone was inscribed: "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord." Appie's parents, Lewis and Jame Foster, had six children.
